Restructuring Professional Development Efforts

Professional Development Announcement

The NC Office of School Readiness (OSR) is in the process of restructuring professional development efforts in response to current research regarding how best to meet the learning needs of early educators.  This approach will more closely align with professional development standards from both the NC Department of Public Instruction and the National Association for the Education of Young Children, as well as support OSR’s goal “To promote children’s learning and development through effective, performance-based early childhood education practices.”

In 2008-2009 OSR will begin to move away from a statewide workshop delivery system toward supporting regional delivery systems that focus on partnerships with local agencies and organizations to provide high-quality professional development which incorporates follow-up and ongoing support.

While OSR is in this process of transition, we will continue to support several professional development opportunities.  These will include:

• NCaeyc Annual Conference, Sept. 18 – 20

Professional development announcements will be posted on OSR’s Calendar of Events throughout the year and will include dates, locations, and registration information.
