Infant-Toddler Foundations training is coming to a town near you! Beginning fall 2008 – summer 2009, FREE training will be offered to providers of infant-toddler services that addresses the five (5) domains of learning for children birth to 3 and connects development and learning to the Early Learning Standards. Introducing the ACT / Head Start Project for the 2008-09 Program Year!
The North Carolina Head Start—State Collaboration Office (HSSCO) has partnered with the AmeriCorps and Children Together (ACT) initiative, administered by Stokes Partnership for Children, to develop the ACT / Head Start Project. This new pilot project will provide Early/Head Start teaching staff with the “release time” they may need to meet newprofessional development requirements. (The Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 requires that all Head Start teachers earn an AA in Early Childhood Education by 2011.)
The ACT / Head Start project will initially be targeted at programs in the following counties:
Ashe, Alamance, Alexander, Alleghany, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson, Davie, Durham, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham, Rowan, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, Yadkin
